BULOVA
The Bulova Watch Company is a renowned American watchmaker with a rich history that spans over a century. The company was founded in 1875 by Joseph Bulova, a 23-year-old Czech immigrant, in New York City. Initially, Bulova focused on manufacturing and selling jewelry, including pocket watches. By 1911, the company began producing wristwatches, which were still considered relatively new at the time. By the 1920s, Bulova introduced various innovations that set them apart in the watch industry.
In the 1970s, the Bulova Watch Company faced financial challenges and went through a series of ownership changes until 2008 when Citizen Watch Co. Ltd. of Japan purchased the Bulova Watch Company and formed the Citizen Watch America subsidiary.
Today, Bulova continues to create a wide range of watches known for their precision, craftsmanship, and design. This STUNNING timepiece is a vintage Bulova 23 "A" automatic dress wristwatch dated from 1957, one of "the greatest achievement in a century of watchmaking".
It is a self-winding watch powered by the original Bulova automatic movement caliber 10BPAC, featuring 23 jewels, a sweep-second hand, and includes six adjustments (heat, cold, isochronism, and three positions). With a 41-hour power reserve and it operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour. Made in the U.S.A.
Original black sunburst textured dial with arrow hours markers, luminous dots and luminous matching hands. The dial is also signed with Bulova name on top, 23 Jewels and Selfwinding on the bottom.
Cased in a 30.5mm round case with strong styling and fancy lug design, all in stainless steel.
It comes fitted with a brand-new black genuine leather Hadley-Roma two-piece strap.
After 65 years, it is still in good condition. Runs very well and keeps great time!

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust the lighting, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
